The dictionary definition of kinesiology is ‘The study of movement’.
Kinesiology as a therapy is the science of muscle monitoring and involves the practitioner monitoring a muscle to obtain biofeedback from the body. This information is used to see where there are imbalances or blockages in the body’s energy system, or stress being held. These imbalances may be physical, mental, emotional, spiritual or structural. The kinesiologist can help find out why they are there and what can facilitate positive change to restore balance.
The basis of kinesiology uses Chinese medicine theories.
A chiropractor developed ‘applied Kinesiology’, which is what is what is taught in many schools today. We draw on old and new balancing techniques including meridian work, acupressure holding points, flower essences, brain integration work, nutrition, and lifestyle to name a few.
